Essay on Journey by train
I have travelled by train many times. But these were short Journeys. One day, my father told us that he is going to Kanyakumari on a business trip. He decided to take the whole family with him. We were thrilled to hear this good news. We packed our luggage and went to Kota by train, as our real journey was to start from there. At Kota we boarded the Rajdhani Express for Kanyakumari. We travelled in a second class AC compartment.
The journey was very comfortable. We passed through many states. I looked out during the day and enjoyed the scenery all along. We saw cattle grazing, people working in the fields, beautiful flower Gardens and orchards of fruit trees. Our train made very few halts. Meals was served at regular interval. We enjoyed the delicious food.
The scenery along the Konkan coast was really very beautiful. Our train passed through many tunnels. Then we reached Ernakulam, a very clean and beautiful city. From Ernakulam, we boarded another train for Kanyakumari. This part of our journey from Ernakulam to Kanyakumari was still more enjoyable. At last we reached our destination, Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India. We can never forget our journey.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. His parents were Kaba Gandhi and Putli Bai.
As a student he was brilliant and from a very early age displayed and fostered virtues of honesty and truthfulness.
He completed his school and college education in Gujarat. Mohandas then went to England to study law and became a barrister. On completing his studies in law in 1893 he went to South Africa to practice there. It was here that his eyes were opened to the maltreatment of the Indians . His sentiments rose high and he felt he had to do something about it.
Gandhiji returned to India and started a movement to make the people aware that all must help to free India from British rule. He used non-violent methods and asked all Indians to practice Swadeshi – the use of country-made things. Gandhiji led the way by using only khadi clothes. He suffered a lot at the hands of the British rulers and was sent to Jail on a number of occasions .
The “Quit India” movement and the “Non-cooperation” movement played a great part in the freedom of India, which eventually dawned on August 15, 1947. On january 30, 1948 Gandhiji was shot dead by Nathuram Godse. In his last tragic moment he prayed for god”s help.
My Pet Dog
I have a little pet dog. I call it puppy. I love it very much. When I come from school it comes running towards me. It lies at my feet, wags its tail and licks my hand. I feed it with my own hand. I wash it with soap. It follows me when I go out for a walk. It has a collar round its neck. It is very faithful and intelligent. It keeps watch at night. I should not like to part with it.
When a Shakespeare says-”A friend in need is a friend indeed”, he define friendship in a nutshell. It is the greatest virtue of humanity. It is one of the greatest gifts God has bestowed upon man. Friendship has it’s root in the origin of the universe. Ever since the mankind came into being the elements of friendship cropped up. A friend is said to be another himself. A true friend is a divine entity who not only provide timely assistance but also closely watches his friend’s steps. A true friend is a perfect embodiment of the best guide. It is always unconditional. It is natural flow of love between two hearts. It is not merely a duty but a worship that spreads the perfume of divinity.
A DAY IN AN ORPHANAGE
On my birthday, we decided to celebrate it in different way. We went to Mother Teresa Ashram.
First I and my younger sister played with the children. I distributed them games and materials like bat, ball, chocolates, etc. We decorated the hall with balloons and flowers. Then we celebrated the birthday. The mother and other sisters gave me blessings. The children presented me flowers to show their feelings for me.
Then, we had our lunch with them. We enjoyed their the whole day. It is our duty to help them. After coming back to home, I felt very sad fate of these orphans.
